Each roll contains approximately 40 metres of paper. The number of receipts per roll depends on the length of each receipt printed — typically 6 to 12cm per transaction. For a business processing around 50 to 100 card transactions per day, one roll generally lasts between one and three days. Buying in bulk (50 or 100 rolls) ensures you always have a backup supply and reduces your per-roll cost.

The difference is minimal — 57mm and 58mm refer to the nominal width of the paper. In practice, most payment terminals that accept a 57mm roll will also accommodate a 58mm roll, and vice versa, as there is usually a small tolerance in the paper compartment.
