What are Wati Credits?

Wati credits are the currency used to send messages through the Wati platform. Since Meta charges for conversations based on the type of message and the number of recipients, Wati uses credits to cover these costs.

Important Note

  • Meta has moved from Conversation-Based pricing to Message-Based pricing. To learn more about message-based pricing, refer to our guide.

Types of messages

There are three types of messages you can send:

  • Marketing Messages – Used for promotions, offers, and updates to engage your customers.

  • Authentication Messages – Sent for verification purposes, such as OTPs (One-Time Passwords).

  • Utility Messages – Transactional messages related to ongoing orders, customer service updates, and other essential notifications. Meta applies different pricing structures for each message type.

Ensuring sufficient credits

To send messages smoothly, your Wati account must have sufficient minimum balance:

  • Indian customers (INR plans): Maintain a minimum wallet balance of ₹500

  • All other customers (USD plans): Maintain a minimum wallet balance of $10

If your balance runs out, campaigns and automated messages will not be processed until you add more credits.

How do I top up or add more credits?

To add credits to your Wati account:

  • Log in to your Wati account.

  • Click on the Wallet in the top menu, then select Buy Credits.

  • Enter the desired top-up amount.

  • Click on the Buy Credit button to complete the purchase.

What are the conversation charges?

The charges for conversations are based on the end user’s phone number and country code. You can view the exact charges directly in your Wati account when topping up credits.

Important

If you are not seeing the Wallet icon in your Wati account, one possible reason is that your account has been canceled or is scheduled for cancellation. For accounts with a pending cancellation request, the Wallet icon is hidden and additional credits cannot be purchased.

If you need to purchase credits after scheduling a cancellation, first remove the cancellation request. Once the cancellation request is removed, the Wallet icon will become available again and you can proceed with purchasing credits.

This behavior only applies to accounts with a pending cancellation request and does not affect active, renewing accounts.
