What does 57x40x12mm mean for a receipt roll?

The three numbers describe the physical dimensions of the roll. 57mm is the width of the paper, 40m is the length of paper on the roll, and 12mm is the diameter of the inner core. These measurements matter because different terminal models require specific roll widths and core sizes to fit correctly. The 57x40x12mm format is the most widely used standard for NETS and credit card payment terminals in Singapore.

Does this roll require ink or a ribbon to print?

No. This is a thermal receipt roll, meaning it uses heat-sensitive paper that reacts to the print head inside your terminal. There is no ink, toner, or ribbon required — the terminal simply applies heat to produce clear black text on the paper. This makes thermal rolls cleaner, faster, and more cost-effective compared to dot-matrix or impact printing.

How long will one roll last?

Each roll contains approximately 40 metres of paper. The number of receipts per roll depends on the length of each receipt printed — typically 6 to 12cm per transaction. For a business processing around 50 to 100 card transactions per day, one roll generally lasts between one and three days. Buying in bulk (50 or 100 rolls) ensures you always have a backup supply and reduces your per-roll cost.

What is the difference between a 57mm and a 58mm receipt roll?

The difference is minimal — 57mm and 58mm refer to the nominal width of the paper. In practice, most payment terminals that accept a 57mm roll will also accommodate a 58mm roll, and vice versa, as there is usually a small tolerance in the paper compartment. The NETS roll is labelled 57mm but functions correctly in both 57mm and 58mm terminal slots. If you are unsure, refer to your terminal’s specifications or contact our support team.

How should I store receipt rolls to maintain print quality?

Thermal paper is sensitive to heat, light, and moisture. To maintain print quality, store unused rolls away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and high humidity. Keep them in their original packaging or in a cool, dry environment. Avoid contact with oils, solvents, or plasticisers, as these can cause the thermal coating to darken or degrade prematurely.
